Listen to hear JNL’s answer to this question:

“So you’ve built a global fitness empire JNL Worldwide, you’re the face of many other fitness & fashion brands, as well as a recently divorced mom– how do you manage to balance it all while keeping fit and not go crazy?”

“Budgeting my time. Delegate. Turned passion into business. I was able to say no more than yes and protect my time.”

Listen to hear JNL’s journey from food stamps to building her own personal empire.

“I was raised at a poverty level and was relentless, never gave up. My journey didn’t start until I became a Mom. I was thinking do I follow in the footsteps of my Mom or break the rules?”

“Sometimes in business you do great sometimes you don’t it just is what it is.”

“I wanted to become very poised, well spoken, empowered. You have to pick your mentors wisely.”

“What I wanted to do with fashion is not make it so cookie cutter. That’s how I built my JNL line.”

Listen to hear JNL’s answer to this question:

“You jet set from coast to coast building your fitness empire. How do you manage to keep your food and fitness on point?”

“You can’t just eat accidentally. You have to set yourself up for success.”

“I eat more than I did when I was out of shape. Not just boring broccoli. Celebrate flavors eating out healthy.”

“When you train, you have to east more to lose more.”

“If you just satisfy your sweet tooth you never go wrong.”

You haven’t always been the fit and fashionable cover model, having yo-yoed up and down with your weight. What originally kick-started your fitness journey and how did you get to the point where you’ve been able to keep in world class shape year round?

“I moved to Miami it’s like North Cuba. I then did the healthy way, which is to get strong. Workout less and eat more. Cracking the weight loss code from weight training.”

“Weight training gives you glutes that salute.”

Listen to hear the amazing Transformation of Christine Jackson. From wheelchair bound down 150 pounds to athlete.

“She is not only a walking billboard but incredibly excited and passionate person.”

Listen to hear JNL’s answer to this question:

“Tell us about what inspired your new online fitness community www.JoltOfJNL.com geared towards the modern day busy woman.”

“I love to write. Very therapeutic way to connect with people. Exercise DVDs. Seminars. Conferences. When I started my journey, I didn’t have a blueprint. So I made my own success map and then give it to other people.”

“Find balance and inner peace and feel good about yourself.”

Listen to hear JNL’s answer:

“Tell us about your experience in Pain and Gain. What was it like for you working alongside some of Hollywood’s greats?”

This Week’s Challenge is to Dedicate Your Workout To Something Bigger Than You

I learned about this weekly challenge from the brilliant mind of our last guest David Jack and this week’s challenge will give you insight into the power of Activeight.

Typically when talking about fitness and results, dedication refers to the amount of effort you’re putting in towards your goals. We see someone’s external physical results and say, Wow, that person is really dedicated.”

But what if there was a way to be infinitely more impressive with dedication?

This week’s challenge is to dedicate your workout to something so much bigger than fitness. For instance, dedicate your workout to a child with cancer. Or dedicate your workout to being a good role model to your own kids. Or dedicate your workout to someone who is simply having a rough day.

By adding a bigger purpose behind your actions, you’ll not only increase your drive to give your workout everything you’ve got, you’re inspiration will have a rippling positive effect.

As part of Activeight, David’s team at Active Labs handed everyone a white board where they dedicate their workouts and clients’ workouts. Could you imagine? Instead of gossiping with your trainer or complaining about your day when at the gym, you SHOWED gratitude and deeper purpose and put forth your greatest effort for something outside of you and your life? If that isn’t an absolute motivator to fuel your workouts with passion, I don’t know what is.

So this week, take 1 workout and dedicate it to something greater than yourself. And when you’re done, take a moment in reflection to see how it elevated your game as well as your mood.

Thank you for listening to the Empower Hour. Remember that we’re live every Saturday from 9-10 on ESPN Radio 1700AM. You can listen live on your radio or from our ESPN livestream, or download our podcast on iTunes and connect with us on Facebook.
